The Lakers will be holding tryouts for a U18 girls team this coming Friday, January 9th at Ellenvale Jr. High from 8-10 PM Cole Harbour District High School from 6pm till 8pm (but be prepared to stay a little longer if needed) and Saturday from 12 to 2pm at Carrefour.
If you plan on attending it is very important that you pre-register. (See “Register” link at top right).
We are tight for time, so once we have this tryout on Friday and we have enough girls, we’ll need your parents to send in the registration money and uniform deposit ASAP. Don’t have your parents send anything in until we are 100% certain we can field at team.
The requirements to be on this team are:
1. You must commit to practice times. For now 1 practice time will be Friday’s at Ellenvale Jr. High from 8-10 pm. We are working on another time, which could be a Sat or Sun afternoon at Carrefour or even Tues nights (Nothing is confirmed yet).
2. You must commit to tournaments and provincials. If you have a part-time job and work weekends, then this is not the team for you. You must be available to play in all tournaments the team goes in to. If you have family commitments, and can’t make a tournament, that is a different story.
3. You have to agree to
the Club Policies and you and your parents must sign that document.

Hi all,
After our parents meeting in December it was decided that parents would pay for the players Laker Gear in order for the players to have the gear before the season starts.
Please note that the quoted prices are for a minimum of 24 items. If we don’t sell at least 24 of each the cost will go up by a few dollars. So please ask around.
The deadline for order and payment to be in to the coaches (then to me by the next day) is Tuesday January 13th, 2009. This will ensure delivery by the end of January.
Cheques should be made to “First Choice Sportswear“.

It is not to late to come out and play!
The first team practice will be Monday, January 5th at Cunard Jr. High in Halifax (click here for map) from 7 - 10 pm. Even if you haven’t made it to a tryout yet you are still welcome.

It is important we have an idea how many girls will be trying out. If you are planning on attending, please send us an e-mail with your Name, DOB and any previous playing experience, to: admin@lakersvolleyball.org (Please put “U16 Girls Tryouts” in the subject line).
Team practices will be twice a week, Tuesday nights 6-8 at Carrefour and Saturday mornings 10-12 at Carrefour. If you can not commit to these times and Friday night / Saturday tournaments, then you SHOULD NOT bother trying out. On weeks where the team is in a tournament, we will be most likely practice at Canuard Jr. High in Halifax from 7:00 to 8:30pm.
Some Extra Notes for Parents…
- This years club fees will remain the same as last year $200.00 (includes, but is not limited to: VNS fees, provincial team entry, t-shirt, some tournament fees)
- All players must also submit a $50.00 uniform deposit along with their fees, upon making the team
- More “Club Details” will hopefully be posted by the start of Dec., as we are reviewing club policies at this time.
