The Huskies Women’s Volleyball team is pleased to offer minor volleyball teams FREE admission to their games this weekend.  Just wear your team jersey and come out and support the Huskies. Both games at The Tower.

Girls Tryouts for 2010 Season

Tryouts Day 1 – Saturday December 12, 2009

Tryouts Day 2 – Sunday December 13, 2009

Where:   Ecole Du Carrefour

Note:    Arrive approx. 30min early to register, get dressed, and warm-up for tryouts

Cost:     $10.00 for both days (Checks payable to Lakers Volleyball)

Age Groups:

18U – Must be born in 1992/1993 (see below)   Sat 10:00am to 12:00pm    Sun 5:00pm to 7:00 pm

16U - Must be born in 1994/1995                          Sat 10:00am to 12:00pm    Sun 5:00pm to 7:00 pm

14U – Must be born in 1996 or later                      Sat 12:00pm to 2:00pm      Sun 10:00am to 12:00 pm

The 18U team may have 2 overage players:  19 years old and in their first year of grade 12, having not been held back in school at any time.

If you are planning on attending, please send the U16 Girls Head Coach Luc Potvin an e-mail with your Name, DOB and any previous playing experience, to: u16girls@lakersvolleyball.org (Please put “Girls Tryouts” in the subject line). Pre-registration is not required to attend tryouts players may register at the gym.

Team practices will be held three times a week for the 16U and two times a week for the 14U & 18U teams. In addition to committing yourself to attending practices you should also be prepared to commit yourself to Friday night / Saturday tournaments. Once season starts in late January the Lakers teams will be participating in many tournaments, plus NS Provincials, and Easterns inSherbrooke, Quebec (14U and 16U only).

Some Extra Notes for Parents…

  • Team registration fees include, but are not limited to: VNS fees, provincial team entry, t-shirt, tournament fees, and gym cost. Actual team fees will be communicated at tryouts.
  • All players must also submit a $50.00 uniform deposit along with their fees, upon making the team
  • All fees are due at the Parents meeting
  • Team apparel will be available for viewing and ordering at the Parent meeting
  • Parent meeting for all players that make the team will be held during the last 30 minutes of the first practice following tryouts

Mark Heese, Olympic Bronze Medalist Beach Volleyball (1996), 10 time National Champion, Ranked #2 in the world at one point, will be making an appearance at the Atlantic Volleyball Camp in Sussex, NB (Aug.23-28).
